Spring 2022 Forum Highlights FROM Premier Connects


Spring was an extremely busy time for us here at Premier Connects. We were thrilled to host three amazing regional CIO forums, as well as three topic-driven forums and three industry forums. Each featured exceptional keynote presenters, engaging topics, and an outstanding lineup of vendors.

REGIONAL FORUMS

Where we were

Talented speakers from a variety of industries joined us at three regional forums in spring 2022. We traveled to the Northeast Region (March 16), Southwest Region (May 17), and West Region (May 19).

Our speakerS AND TOPICS

At the Northeast, Southwest, and West Forums, we were thrilled to welcome  Dr. Rebecca Homkes. She is a High-Growth Strategy Specialist, Educator & Previous Fellow at the London Business School, Duke Corporate Education & London School of Economics’ Centre for Economic Performance. Dr. Homkes served as the host for each event, kicking off and ending each forum with closing remarks. 

Alongside Dr. Homkes, Julie Myers (VP of IT and CIO, University of Rochester), Mark Booth (SVP & CIO, Perdue Farms), Thomas Blazek (CIO, Arconic), and Nikki Cockcroft (Global Chief Marketing and Technology Manager, Virgin Active) all spoke at the Northeast Forum. 

Topics included Embracing Uncertainty to Thrive: Leading Growth Through Any Market Condition, The Convergence of Tech in Customer Facing Roles, and Public Cloud Adoption as Cybersecurity Risk Reduction.

Attendees of the Southwest Forum were able to learn from an expert panel on embracing ambiguity. Moderated by Brandon Greenwood, panelists included Gertrude Van Horn (SVP & CIO, NCH Corporation), Joanne Hu Corum (SVP & CIO, McCoy Corporation), and Vijay Challa (CTO & CIO, Boy Scouts of America). 

In another general session, Andy Draper (HCA Healthcare, CIO, Continental Division and Founder of GreenCIO) presented on The Role of the CIO in Solving Their Company’s Carbon Zero Strategy.

Finally, at the West Forum, attendees had the privilege of attending sessions on How to Remove Fear in IoT Deployments: 5 Ways to Make IoT Deployments Successful, and The Role of the CIO in Solving Their Company’s Carbon Zero Strategy. Presenters included Sameer Khera (CIO, NortonLifelock), Vijay Panati (Deputy CIO, Los Angeles County Probation Department), Marty Menard (CIO, Pacific Coast Companies, Inc.), Andy Draper (CIO, Continental Division, HCA Healthcare & Founder, GreenCIO), Kerry Siggins (CEO, StoneAge, Inc.), and Michael Pytel (CTO, Fulfilld).

Highlights from each forum

Our Cyber Security Forum was a massive success thanks to our outstanding moderators and speakers. Joy Beland (CISM, SSAP, CMMC-AB, Senior Cybersecurity Consultant, Professional Instructor & CMMC Training Program Manager, Edwards Performance Solutions) served as the forum host.

Participants at the Cyber Security Forum enjoyed a fireside chat with Brandon Greenwood (CISO & VP, Information Technology & Security, Overstock.com), which was moderated by Joy Beland. Another highlight was the featured keynote — Employment Lifecycle Management to Mitigate Insider Threats — hosted by Shawnee Delaney (Decorated Intelligence Officer, Investigator and Insider Threat Subject Matter Expert, Vaillance Group, Uber).

Other topics covered included Don't Pay the Ransom, The Perfect Alliance: Redefining the CIO/CISO Relationship, and Cloud Migrations, Digital Transformation, Ransomware and Other CISO & CIO Lessons Learned.

Hybrid Workforce Pop-Up Forum and Hybrid Cloud Pop-Up Forum

Dr. Rebecca Homkes, who hosted all of our regional forums, served as forum host at the Hybrid Workforce Pop-Up and at the Hybrid Cloud Pop-Up.

Alex Bennett (SVP, Integrated Offers, Managed Networks & Collaboration Services, NTT) and Darryl Wilson (VP of GTM for Managed Network & Collaboration Services, NTT) hosted the Hybrid Workforce Pop-Up fireside chat — Driving Tangible Employee Outcomes in a Hybrid Work Model.

Chris DePerro (SVP, Global Professional Services, NTT) and Chris Irving (CIO, RouteOne) hosted the Hybrid Cloud Pop-Up fireside chat — Accelerating Digital Transformation with Hybrid Cloud.

Forum highlights

We were beyond excited to have Kim Ades (Founder & Co-Founder, Frame of Mind Coaching™ & The Journal That Talks Back™) serve as the event host for all three of our industry forums — the Government Forum, Healthcare Forum, and the Financial Services Forum.

Kim also served as moderator for the keynote panel discussion, which featured panelists Gary Washington (CIO, U.S. Department of Agriculture) and Lorna Drennen (Assistant CIO, U.S. Department of Agriculture REE).

Featured keynotes included From Spies to Social Engineers: How the Human Factor Leaves You Vulnerable, and The Rigors of Regulatory Compliance | Detangling the Alphabet Soup of Federal Compliance Reporting.

At the Healthcare Forum, the opening keynote discussion — Consistent Growth in Times of Crisis: How To Lead Your IT Team Through Any Market Condition with Confidence, Conviction, and Impact — featured panelists Lisa Dykstra (SVP & CIO, Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago), Keith Perry (MBA, SVP & CIO, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital), and Edward Lee, MD (Executive VP of IT & CIO, Associate Executive Director, The Permanente Federation, The Permanente Medical Group).

Additional topics included The Role of the Healthcare CIO in Solving Their Company’s Carbon Zero Strategy, and Modernizing the Delivery of Healthcare with Chrome Enterprise.

Attendees of the Financial Services Forum were treated to the opening keynote discussion — Consistent Growth in Times of Crisis: How To Lead Your IT Team Through Any Market Condition with Confidence, Conviction, and Impact — which featured expert panelists Reginal Bryant (SVP & CIO, Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond) and Michael Brady (CIO, LeaderOne Financial).

Additional topics at the Financial Services Forum included Application Modernization: To Rehost, Refactor, or Replatform, The Role of the Financial Services CIO in Solving Their Company’s Carbon Zero Strategy, and Don’t Pay the Ransom.
